A wry observation on the funny side of ski-ing.
One of Oliver Preston's last books,'Shall we Join the Men?',was a concoction of his burlesque cartoons, published in the Field Magazine.Preston has now turned his attention towards winter sports.
'FONDUE and FURS' lifts the lid on ski-ing in the Swiss Alps, satirising the famous and exclusive alpine resort of Gstaad, where fur-coated and feisty, the jet set balance the finer art of shopping with ski-ing,and trill to Gstaad's social mores.
Ski-ing hard during the day,and playing hard every night,it is a cocktail of fondues and raclettes,of exclusive clubs and chalet hopping.
Preston's delightful drawings and wicked social observation make for a lot of fun on and off the piste!
Oliver Preston's drawings have been published in 'The Guardian'.'The Independent' and 'Punch Magazine' and he is the regular cartoonist for 'The Field Magazine'.
He draws extensive corporate commissions and his caricatures and drawings hang in many private collections including 'Annabels', 'Boodles',and 'George' clubs in London. He's Chairman of the Cartoon Art Trust, and founded Britain's first Museum of Cartoon Art in London in 2006.More of his cartoons, christmas cards and caricatures at his website oliverpreston dot com.
Oliver, whose mother is Swiss, has visited Gstaad regularly since the 1960's and recently he has held annual exhibitions at the Gstaad Palace Hotel.
